Skiers, snowboarders and sledders took to the slopes over the weekend as part of Rainbow Ski Areas opening celebrations.
After a miserable Friday cancelling the pre-opening members only day the skies cleared and snowfall eased making for excellent Saturday and Sunday.
This year Rainbow has snow all the way to the top and Manager Jono Hay says a new snow gun is helping to create perfect snow sport conditions.
“Our new toy, it’s fresh over from Italy. It works on a mixture of compressed air and high pressure water.”
He says one of the most important things people need to remember when coming to Rainbow is to carry chains in their car. Vehicles are being turned away from the carpark for not carrying them.
