An earthquake centered east of Nelson was felt as far away as Christchurch, Golden Bay, Blenheim, Wellington and Kapiti this morning.
The 4.4 magnitude light intensity quake hit 73km deep in the Rai Valley area just before 9am.
There have been no reports of damage or injury.
