Police say the alleged gunman reported on Kent Street was a false alarm.
Over five police units were called into the Stoke area after an informant reported seeing a man in a black hoodie walking along Kent Street with what she thought might have been a gun.
Police searched the area extensively and are satisfied that there was no such person.
“We do not have a person with a gun on Kent St,” says Police Communications Manager, Barbara Dunn.
As a precaution, Birchwood School was notified and staff member Pru Smith says students and staff were safe inside the classrooms the whole time.
