Lights were flashing, the amps were pumping and backstage was a mix of nerves and adrenaline for the first round of the 2016 Smokefree Rockquest.
Theatre Royal was going off on Saturday night as 21 of the region’s high school bands and five solo/duos performed to the packed-out crowd.
Groups from Waimea, Nelson, Garin and Nayland College went up against Motueka High School, Golden Bay High School and Nelson College for Girls for change to compete in the regional final, which is being held this Friday night at the Theatre Royal.
