Ollie Rooney still gets excited when he sees his face while getting his breakfast.
The nine-year-old was chosen as one of five Kiwi kids to be the face of Weet-Bix as the iconic cereal promotes the 2019 Weet-Bix TRYathlon.
Hopefuls were asked to submit a short essay about overcoming an obstacle.
Ollie’s story about becoming a better reader was selected and the Hampden Street School student was flown to Auckland for a photo shoot.
“It was pretty awesome.”
Ollie’s story was posted to the back of the box as well as his image on the front making him somewhat of a celebrity at school.
This weekend will be Ollie’s third Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon. He says the training has been tough but will no doubt be worth it.
The popular event is being held at Tahunanui Recreation Ground on Sunday, 3 March 2019 from 9am.
