The newest Sprig & Fern will open in Tahunanui tomorrow.
Owners Ben and Holly Douglas say they’re excited about the launch after hosting a shout for trade workers on the site and friends and family over the weekend. “It’s been a lot of sleepless nights and long days working but we’ve all put in the hard work to make it successful. Everyone’s been really passionate about it and we couldn’t have done it without Tracy [Banner] and Dave [Barrett] from the brewery,” says Holly. “It’s been as much their project as ours.”
It is the sixth Sprig & Fern-styled bar to open and the fifth in Nelson, with one now set up in Wellington.
Holly says the move happened fairly quickly but she’s looking forward to welcoming locals to the old Amigo’s site, across the road from the Tahuna playing fields. “We can’t wait to serve real customers now and we think they’ll like it. We had no negative feedback from our two practice nights, it looks like a Sprig & Fern, it feels like a Sprig & Fern and we’re really happy with how it’s turned out.”
