At Saxton Stadium drainage couldn’t cope with the amount of rain and water crept into the ceiling of the sports house offices where Sport Tasman are based, eventually causing it to collapse into the offices. The stadium itself suffered flooding to its speciality floor, causing what is likely to be the biggest expense for the council. Stadium manager Tony Naylor was devastated and said the damage was a blow to the whole community.
