Hundreds queued up outside Founders Historical Park this morning in order to nab a chance at scoring something of value at the annual Book Fair.

Books ranged from atlases to poetry anthologies and everything in between.

One of the event organisers, Murray Farant, says the fair has taken all year to sort. He says often it can be a struggle to organise all the books into each specific category.

“We have about 50 or 60 catagories to sort books into, it’s not an exact science. When does a craft become a hobby and when does a hobby become DIY?”

Photographer and councilor Tim Skinner lost his annual race to the energy center to tennis coach Alastair Cotterill.

“I was here at 7am this morning so I was the first one in,” Cotterill says.

The Founders Book Fair runs until June 7 from 10am to 4:30pm. Entry is $2.
