Nelson’s Speedy Signs shop proudly flies the five referendum flags ahead of next months vote.
The flags were made in-house and were raised this morning, already drawing a lot of attraction.
Employee Mike Smith says they’ve had people come into the shop and pick a favourite but also several who want to keep the existing flag.
“It’s the 26 million dollar question – which one will New Zealand choose?”
Company director, Glen Irain says it’s good for people to start seeing them.
“The referendum is coming up, people need to make a decision.”
“It’s like buying a new outfit, you’ve got to see how it looks and feels.”
Glen says they will be flying Monday-Friday, until the referendum at least.
The flags are up for sale and Glen says they’ve already had a purchase on the blue and black fern with the southern cross
