The Broadgreen Historic House was surrounded with colour and people this afternoon.
Hundreds of Nelsonians gathered for the annual Broadgreen Rose Day. The event attracted all ages, boasting bouncy castles, live music, entertainment, historic tours, picnics, over 40 stalls and of course, the iconic roses.
Local Renee Lang enjoyed wandering amongst the roses.
“It’s a feast for the senses,” says Renee.
“I’m a newcomer to Nelson and I’ve been blown away by the number of community events where you can just walk around and enjoy everything.”
Chair of the Broadgreen Society, Mary Gavin says she is thankful for the sunshine and the large turnout, “it keeps growing each year.”
Mary says the event has changed quite a bit over the years, from a carnival to more of a community event.
“But it’s still got that lovely old-fashioned picnic feel to it and it’s very cruisey which people love.”
