A jetboat, Police and the rescue helicopter were called in to help an injured woman trapped in the Owen River yesterday.
According to police, the woman, in her 40s, had a “mishap” in her kayak yesterday morning.
The woman became trapped on a rock in the Owen River near Murchison after she ran into difficulty while kayaking and had a suspected broken leg.
Acting Senior Sergeant Matthew Elliot said as well as a local response, the Nelson rescue helicopter was dispatched to rescue the woman.
“It’s a fast-flowing river and we have had to cross a few paddocks to get there,” he says.
The lady was transported by Ambulance to Nelson Hospital for treatment.
