The staff at Founders Heritage Park have books coming out their ears
In less than three weeks, the doors open for the Annual Founders Book Fair.
The 15 book sorters are absolutely drowning in books and have to be joined by another 60 volunteers who will help sort and price the endless stream of donated books.
Set up takes a whole three weeks but soon the 150 tables will be groaning under the weight of over 50,000 books.
The Book Fair is a major fundraising activity for Founders Heritage Park and last year’s Fair raised over $128,000 which was spent on development projects at the park including the redevelopment of the Newman’s coach display in the Livery Stables.
Mayor Rachel Reese says the Book Fair is a great opportunity to stock up on your reading collection.
“Each year the Fair gets bigger and better; it never disappoints. It’s such a fantastic way to recycle your own books and find others you’ve been wanting to read.
The fair runs from Saturday, June 4 to Sunday, June 12, 10am – 4.30pm.
A daily pass is $2, weekly passes are $5 and children under 12 go free.
