Thunder, lightning, torrential rain and hail are expected as a stormy front rolls over the Nelson-Tasman region on Friday afternoon.
The MetService reports that, after a brief fine period, the weather is forecast to deteriorate again with scattered thunderstorms across the region. MetService says some of the hailstones could be up to 20mm diameter and warned that they could be big enough to damage cars, crops and glasshouses
The thunderstorms are forecast to pass by about 9pm with clear weather forecast for the weekend.
