Despite the significant earthquakes experienced across the region early this morning Nelson Marlborough Health facilities are operational.
Acting Chief Executive Peter Bramley expresses his thanks to all staff for their response last night ensuring safe patient care.
“At this stage there appears to be minimal disruption to services at Nelson, Wairau, Murchison, Alexandra and Golden Bay Hospitals,” he says.
“We are working with Civil Defence and others nationally to ensure our responses are coordinated. Engineers at this moment are assessing the buildings with a focus on ensuring the lifts remain operational in Nelson Hospital.”
The incident management team are reviewing the situation and will be giving updates throughout the day.
