There was no mistaking the sound of rock emanating through the Theatre Royal last nights as SmokefreeRockquest finalists competed for their chance to enter the national finals.
The theatre was packed full of students, parents, teachers and grandparents who had come along to support the young performers.
Nelson College band Tetra took out the top prize for the band category and along with the other award winners, will have a chance to enter the national finals by submission of a video piece.
MC Chris Phillips was impressed with the range of talent on show and says he is amazed at how far the bands have come from the heats last week.
“There’s a lot of pressure just in that one week before the finals.”
Nelson Live caught caught up with Tetra last night, check back soon for a full video interview.
