A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle early this morning on State Highway 6 between Pelorus and Havelock, Marlborough.
Police were called to the incident at 12:15am.
The road will be closed until around midday in order for the Serious Crash Unit to examine the scene, after which Police hope to have one lane open.
A detour is in place via State Highway 63, although to those planning on taking this detour it will add around 1 hour and 20 minutes to travel time.
Police hope to have both lanes open by the end of the day
