Nelson’s Liam Malone has produced the race of his life to earn a silver medal in the 100m T44 sprint at the Rio Paralympics this afternoon.
Liam produced an amazing finish to surge from sixth at the 50m mark to finish second in a time of 11.02 seconds.
The 22-year-old former Nayland College pupil qualified second for the final in a time of 10.90 seconds but only used the 100m event as a warm up to his more favoured 200m and 400m events which are still to come.
The 200m hears begin on Monday morning (NZ time).
